Description

What does LO mean? Low Observable

What is Low Observable? Simply put you can kill, what you can't see.

"Low observable," in the context of aircraft radar signature, refers to the ability of an aircraft to reduce its detectability by radar systems. This involves minimizing the reflection, absorption, and scattering of radar waves by employing various design features and materials. Stealth aircraft achieve low observability through techniques such as shaping the aircraft to deflect radar waves away from the radar source, coating surfaces with radar-absorbent materials to reduce reflection, and minimizing the presence of radar-reflective features such as antennas and sharp edges. By reducing its radar signature, a low-observable aircraft can operate with greater stealth, making it more difficult for enemy radar systems to detect and track it.
